Picatinny rails for Sabatti Nordhunt, Rover and Combi
Sabatti is one of Europe’s oldest firearms manufacturers and has supplied hunting rifles to the European market for generations. Nordhunt is developed with Scandinavian hunting in mind, Rover is a broad all-round model, and Combi is a combination rifle. A Picatinny rail makes all three models more flexible with modern scope mounts, red dot sights and night optics.
Nordhunt, Rover and Combi
Sabatti Nordhunt is available in Short Action and Long Action. Short Action is typically used for shorter cartridges such as .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor, while Long Action is used for longer cartridges such as 6.5x55 and .30-06. Rover is likewise available in Short Action and Long Action, and Rover Short Action 2 is a variant with a slightly altered construction. Combi and Combi Extended are combination rifles with a different mounting surface than the pure bolt-action models.
A Picatinny rail for Sabatti Nordhunt Short Action will not necessarily fit the Long Action, Rover or Combi. Always check the exact model, action length and A/B/C measurements on your rifle before ordering.
Material: steel or aluminium
For a Sabatti hunting rifle, 7075-T6 aluminium is a good choice if you want to keep weight down. Steel with QPQ treatment is relevant if the rifle is used intensively, if the optics are heavy, or if you want maximum wear resistance in the mounting. See our guide to steel vs aluminium for Picatinny rails.
Night optics and flexible setups
Picatinny makes it easier to use the same mounting standard on several rifles. It’s especially practical if you use clip-on, thermal optics or digital night optics on your Sabatti. A conventional riflescope should as a rule be checked and often re-zeroed after being moved, while many digital and thermal devices can store profiles for multiple rifles.
Mounting
Position the rail so that the holes line up exactly with the action’s threaded holes. Clean the contact surfaces and threads, use a small amount of suitable threadlocker, and tighten the screws to the manufacturer’s recommendation. See our guide to mounting a Picatinny rail.
