Collection: Picatinny rails for Sako
Sako was founded in Helsinki in 1921 as a repair shop for the Finnish Civil Guard and is now owned by the Beretta Group as a sister brand to Tikka. The system size is crucial: Sako 75/85 is available in System 1, 3, 4 and 5 – and TRG, Quad, and A7 are additional separate options. Here you will find rails for all these models.
Identify your precise system. Confirm with the A/B/C control measurements before ordering.

Picatinny rail for Sako
Sako was founded in 1921 in Helsinki as a repair shop for the Finnish Civil Guard. The factory – Suojeluskuntain Ase- ja Konepaja Oy, hence the abbreviation Sako – moved to Riihimäki in 1927 and has since then been one of the most respected rifle manufacturers in the world. Sako is today owned by the Beretta Group and is a sister brand to Tikka – two Finnish brands with distinctly different positioning but common ownership. Sako is among the most frequently seen rifle brands in Scandinavia, particularly in 6.5x55, .308 Win, and .30-06. The rifles' reputation for precision and finish is well established.
The central choice on the Sako side is not just the model designation, but the action size. Sako 75 and 85 are produced in up to six action sizes – XS, S, SM, M, L, XL – and it is this action size, not just the 75 or 85 designation, that determines the rail choice.
Sako 75/85 Action Sizes
This covers Sako 75/85 System 1, System 3, System 4, and System 5. In practice, this corresponds to a graded scale from compact to magnum. System 1 is intended for the shortest cartridges; System 5 covers magnum calibers. All action sizes require a rail specified for that particular action size – they are not interchangeable.
Check which action size your Sako uses. This is typically stated in the rifle's documentation or can be verified by the hole spacing on the receiver. Use the A/B/C control measurementsas the final confirmation. The Sako 90 – the latest generation from 2023 – is not covered here and requires separate verification.
Sako TRG 22/42
The Sako TRG is a dedicated precision rifle and differs significantly from the 75/85 platform. The TRG 22 is Short Action; the TRG 42 is Long Action for magnum calibers. Both have their own mounting specifications that are not shared with the 75/85 series. The TRG is used professionally for precision shooting and military/police use in many countries. A steel rail is the natural choice here. For TRG use at long distances, it may also be relevant to consider MOA cant – the principle is explained in the guide on MOA cant.
Sako Quad and A7
The Sako Quad is a rimfire platform for .22 LR and related calibers and has its own construction and hole spacing – not compatible with 75/85. The A7 is a more affordably priced hunting rifle in the Sako range and is available in S (Short) and M (Medium) – the two variants each require their own rail. Confirm the model designation and action size carefully.
Material and Use Case
A Sako 85 for moose hunting can do fine with aluminum. A Sako TRG for precision shooting requires the stability of steel. The material difference is described in the guide on steel vs. aluminum for Picatinny. Mounting requires threadlocker and torque control – see the mounting guide.
Sako continues to be one of the most frequently seen rifles in Scandinavian hunting. Confirm the action size and model before ordering a rail – the Sako 75/85 system with up to six action sizes is one of the most complex rail choices on this page, and correct identification is crucial.
